Babita Rusyn is a Manheim Township School Board candidate who brings a wealth of professional expertise, educational experience, and community service to her candidacy. She is committed to serving with integrity, sound judgment, and a focus on creating the best possible opportunities for students.

Babita holds dual degrees in Biochemistry and Psychology from Stony Brook University. She began her career interning with the NYPD’s Forensics Investigations Division, where she collected samples for the FBI’s Paint Database Query and assisted in developing analytical methods for high explosives. In 2004, she joined the Drug Enforcement Administration as a Forensic Chemist, completing Basic Training in Quantico, VA, and working under top-secret clearance.

Over her 11-year career with the DEA, she analyzed thousands of controlled substances, testified in federal, state, and local courts, trained law enforcement officers, and advanced to the role of Senior Forensic Chemist and Associate Training Officer. Her work also extended to bringing drug awareness programs to schools throughout the Northeast.

In 2015, Babita was awarded the U.S. Department of Justice Attorney General’s Volunteer Award for Community Service, recognizing her humanitarian work in Mexico, Colombia, Honduras, Burundi, Ethiopia, Iraq, and India. These missions included building projects, supporting schools for the deaf and blind, participating in rehabilitation programs, and leading youth initiatives.

Since 2016, Babita has served as an Adjunct Instructor at Stony Brook University, teaching courses in biochemistry and pharmacology. She also works as a substitute teacher in the Manheim Township School District, giving her firsthand insight into school operations and the needs of students and educators.

In addition, she is actively involved in the community as a church board member, quizzing coach, and Sunday school teacher. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree in Legal Studies from Texas A&M University’s School of Law.

As a candidate, Babita is committed to setting a strong, principled direction for the district, standing up for sound doctrine, and ensuring ethical decision-making. She is focused on removing hindering policies, building a solid workforce foundation, and striving for excellence in education. Grounded in the values and character of Lancaster County, she views school board leadership as a public trust and approaches the role with honor, integrity, and a dedication to serving students, families, and the community.

Babita lives in Lititz with her husband, Jacob, and their two children, Lily and Luke. Her mix of professional expertise, educational leadership, and personal commitment uniquely equips her to serve Manheim Township with dedication and vision.
